Sneak Peek 2026

Peek into the future this winter with new varieties from Creek Hill Nursery, formally announced at the January MANTS trade show in Baltimore, Maryland. Available for shipping this spring, these crops can be ordered through your favorite broker, via the Creek Hill shopping cart, or directly by email or phone. Below are a few highlights from this year’s collection.

Echinacea 'Fringe Festival'

Totally, totally different. Petals on Echinacea 'Fringe Festival' are split, not doubled, making the entire flower ball-like in appearance. Interesting orange and apricot tones enhance the effect. Long, strap-shaped pine green foliage goes all the way to the ground. No other echinacea does what this one does.

Helleborus
'Winter Sparkle Duo Pink'

A sister variety in the Winter Sparkle series, Hellebore 'Winter Sparkle Duo Pink' has upward facing picotee flowers of elegant snow white with pink-stained edging. Plants display color from late February to early April.

Two North American Natives

Spectacular purple blooms run up the columnar habit of Liatris 'Butterfly Magnet'. It combines the pillar style coming back into garden vogue with a well-known ability to attract butterflies, especially monarchs. Cool and dramatic native plant.

To get any reddish color into a fulgida hybrid is an exciting achievement. The bicolor gold and orange flowers of Rudbeckia 'Suntacular' can be seen from a distance. With a sturdy, rugged base it grows in the style of 'Goldsturm' and keeps the flower count high.

Echinacea 'Sunseekers Pink Grapefruit'

Another distinctive addition to the Sunseekers doubles from Europe. Echinacea 'Sunseekers Pink Grapefruit' has highly double salmon pink petals that run right up, tightly, to the cone. It brings to mind a frilly, floral Elizabethan collar. Abundant blooms make excellent cut flowers.

Two Good Shade Cultivars

Polemonium 'Violet Heart' is big, vigorous, and upright. At the heart of each pretty white flower lies a purple eye. When the plant blooms in late spring to early summer, long stalks go straight up, with flowers held on slender stems above a clump of purple-green foliage. Blooms are lightly fragrant.

King-sized silver frosted leaves on 'Brunnera 'Frost King' display prominent dark green venation. Mature plants are big and robust, generating leaf spans of five inches plus. One of the largest brunneras you will find. Bright blue flowers are a bonus in spring.

Sedum 'Sunsparkler Dazzling Dynamite'

Chris Hansen does a good job of picking dynamic sports from his sedum breeding. Sedum 'Sunsparkler Dazzling Dynamite' has the flash of an annual with its dense rosette of dark plum leaves and variegated hot pink margins. In a pot on a table it’s a colorful showpiece just as much as it is outside in the garden.
